Rich dark brown wool civilian pattern notched collared vest with natural cotton lining and black cotton back. Marked for documented wartime and pre war maker Jno. Hanford Co., Brooklyn and stamped with clothier’s size mark. Matching cloth covered buttons, one of the most common type found on original period clothing. Adjustment strap in back with sewn in standard two prong buckle in black enameled brass. Two front pockets. A nice vest with all button holes neatly handsewn. (Note: Unlike modern American sizes which are often larger than the actual measurement indicated, the measurement from side seam to side seam at the base of the arm hole is actually 44″, there is a taper inward at the high waist to about 40″ and then back out to about 42″ at the bottom edge.) Although our clothing items have found widespread approval – uniforming and outer clothing is not our primary business and until recently we have restricted sale of such items to over the counter sales at events and at the shop, where the purchaser has the opportunity to try on the item before purchase. We take no orders for clothing to be made. PLEASE disregard modern sizing models when considering a purchase and instead utilize the actual garment measurements provided in the item description, against the actual measurements you wish the clothing item to fit over, prior to purchase. (please remember other garments you will be wearing this purchased garment over, in addition to body size) If you are unsure please email us with questions.
