White Cotton Notched Collar Vest, Glass Buttons (So)



Unbleached light white cotton duck civilian pattern notched collared vest with lightly quilted natural muslin lining throughout. A sturdy vest which will hold up well. Matched sets of vest size original new old stock white china glass buttons. Adjustment strap in back with nickeled metalĀ  two prong buckle. Two front pockets. A nice vest with all button holes neatly handsewn. Marked for D.B. Camp of Savannah, with chest size. Camp was a documented pre-war and wartime dealer in “Ready Made” clothing. In addition to being generally popular, the white vest was also noted in U.S. Army Regulations as a suitable alternative for officers worn with the uniform in certain circumstances, and also worn by many sailors of all ranks. (Note :Unlike modern American sizes which are often larger than the actual measurement indicated, the measurement from side seam to side seam at the base of the arm hole is the actual chest measurement indicated. There is a taper inward at the high waist to about 2″ less, and then back out about 1″ at the bottom edge. The waist can be gathered by means of the back adjustment strap.
