ORDERING ITEMS LISTED ONLINE<\/strong> \u2013 Money buys it. The best way to secure an item is to purchase with the buy now feature using your Visa or MasterCard. Working properly, only items still available should allow online purchases. Individual items sold, or stocks completely depleted are automatically removed from customer view. If purchases in the multiples desired are not processed when your cart is updated generally that means that the item is not available in the number requested<\/em>. Please do not hesitate to inquire if any difficulty is experienced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you wish to pay by check, money order or PayPal, please email us with your request and we will determine if the item(s) is available and how to proceed. E-mail is the surest method of quick contact as it is checked several times a day and allows the customer to provide a list of items interested in to be simultaneously communicated. Please understand, there is multiple interest for most items \u2013 please respect your fellow collectors. I take check or money order orders, and Paypal payments on a first come first served basis and e-mails are dated and time recorded and received 24 hrs a day. Please include a phone number in your e-mail so we can quickly communicate with you if e-mail access is delayed on your part. We will provide a PayPal address for payment when order is processed if that is your desired payment method. No purchase is guaranteed until payment is received, processed, and or cleared by all banking entities involved. Again, Visa, Mastercard using the buy now feature is the best way to guarantee a purchase and TAKES Inventory PRIORITY. The process may involve delays which cause the item to be purchased online between the time you inquire and it is removed from the site. I have no way of avoiding this. ARTIFACT RETURNS and REFUNDS<\/strong>: I will accept the return for full refund of any artifact item which can be proven to be mis-identified including your shipping if it is received back to me within 7 days of your receipt in the same condition as when shipped. Remember condition on items 150 yrs old is relative to it\u2019s age. Excellent condition does not mean new condition. Otherwise all sales should be considered final. Having said that, if you are unsatisfied with an item, original or reproduction please call, I am in business to make happy customers whenever possible. CLOTHING RETURNS<\/strong>: We sell all of our clothing and clothing accessories off of the shelf and take no custom or advance orders. Our items represent what was known in the period as Ready Made Clothing. This was clothing made to fit the \u201caverage man\u201d. If you are not \u201caverage\u201d you will need to make your purchase based on the best fit attainable in those areas which are outside of that parameter.  Any tailoring or further fitting of an item is the responsibility of the purchaser \u2013 just as was in the day. If you are exceptionally<\/em> outside those parameters, we respectfully request that you pursue clothing from a vendor that can and will customize for your clothing needs.  Please pay close attention to the actual measurements of each garment that we provide in the description and completely DISREGARD MODERN SIZING MODELS<\/em> as they are full of misconceptions and inaccuracies. (coats, vests, and similar garments are NOT listed by size but by the primary garment measurement, ie. \u201cChest 42\u201d, etc., a sizing chart is available for shirts, etc) If any additional measurement from us is needed to arrive at a purchasing decision, please inquire. Additionally, when obtaining body measurements to discern the proper purchase, please make sure to take measurements over any additional clothing items or accoutrements that will be worn under the garment. It is our experience that self-<\/em>measuring is a less accurate method as flexing and contorting to do so may provide a somewhat distorted result. THE CUSTOMER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL SHIPPING CHARGES ASSOCIATED WITH THE RETURN OF ANY CLOTHING ITEMS WHICH HAVE THE GARMENT MEASUREMENTS PROPERLY DESCRIBED ON OUR WEBSITE. NOTE CONCERNING SHIPPING<\/strong>: We ship Priority US Mail ONLY for all orders, other than some oversized shipments with specific requests. This service comes complete with tracking and insurance included and is the best value for the service for both customer and merchant. Please note if you are making a small order: We ship by USPS box only, no envelopes, no exceptions. (this means it will likely be a small flat rate box as it is usually the lowest cost box method) We have had too many instances where envelopes, even padded versions, have been bent and stuffed into boxes they do not fit in, damaging the contents but leaving the package relatively unscathed so insurance often does not cover this issue. Sorry, but due to this reality, please be aware that a very small order may cost more to get to you than the items themselves. Small business no longer enjoy the discounts we once did before the dawn of the Amazon subsidies era. Your shipping cost will be determined by the USPS link at checkout. (we audit this system weekly and<\/em> if a significant overcharge is evident we will refund you<\/em>) Generally, we ship on the Monday, Wednesday, and Friday following<\/em><\/strong> a purchase being completed, unless a holiday, or website notice is provided indicating expected delays. Occasionally unforeseen delays may occur, but usually we are able to get items out within 3 business days or less. (not a guarantee) Some circumstance can cause minor delays without website advance notice posted. We will ATTEMPT to accommodate any reasonable deadline. IMPORTANT NOTES ON EXCESS BAGGAGE SECTION ITEMS:<\/strong> In addition to our personal involvement from private soldiering to Division command, we have been involved in the Living History community for over 55 years, working very hard, considered by many as innovative groundbreakers in the arena of the campaigner genre in practices such as field sutlery, field commissary and food preparation, logistics , etc.  We have also been in business working in the same genre, along with the artifact collection and museum industry, for 50 years with an emphasis on the personal kit and making good acceptable authenticity affordable for the average family. During that time, we have tried a lot of things, made a lot of things, been sent a lot of things, tried to train a lot of people to make things to our standard and attention to detail (occasionally succeeded, sometimes failed), built successful and mutually beneficial business relationships, and been ripped off more times than we would care to say. Many, many fewer artisans make it to becoming a source for us than fail in the attempt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bottom Line, we have accumulated a lot of things which did not, or may not now represent our standards based on our continuous research and development. Bins and bins of things. (don\u2019t ask where they came from, who made them, what the story is behind us having them, how long ago we got them, etc. We don\u2019t remember in most cases, don\u2019t want to remember, or more likely simply do not care) They have some value<\/em> based on quality of construction, materials, or intended use, but fewer make it to our shelf as a Sutler of Fort Scott item, than fail. We are offering them to you at below cost value for your use and enjoyment, or target practice\u2026\u2026.your decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This section is made up the following: Some items which would meet our standard but are one of a kind and the artisan failed to provide them past the sample. We will not list these items elsewhere because of the time and attention they generate with demand and requests. Items which were made incorrectly according to instruction or pattern with some failed trial runs attempting to train artisans. Items which when delivered did not meet our standards and\/or were not as promised when samples were examined. Items which were damaged. Items which came from sources with which we no longer wish to do business with or promote anymore. Items we just don\u2019t want to store anymore. Probably a few more categories but you get the picture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pictures are part of the description, but we will try our best to provide a cursory description adequate enough for a fair purchase decision. If you don\u2019t take the time to read it, please don\u2019t complain!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
