(Also listed at the bottom is the corresponding measurements for Caps and Hats.) Shirt measurements are taken from the center of the button hole to the center of the collar button for the neck, from the collar seam at the shoulder to the edge of the cuff for the sleeve, and from the top of the sleeve gusset to the opposite gusset(x2) for the total chest. The neck will accommodate about 1\/4\u2033 more with button slide in the hole, and the button can also be moved about 1\/4\u2033. All of the shirts we make have straight side seams. Period shirts were not made to be \u201cfitted\u201d. The body of the shirt will be disproportionately large based upon modern shirt patterns in order to provide plenty of movement for the tasks of the day. Simple movements such as mounting a horse or wagon, swinging an implement, etc., would make short work of the modern pattern shirt seams.&nbsp;<em>This very large body is the period correct common shirt pattern. The most important measurement is the neck, as the period shirt is meant to be worn closed, regardless.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please note if the shirt you are purchasing is prewashed by us, or not, when making a purchase as some minor shrinkage may occur. If the fitting is quite close we recommend sizing up on non pre-washed shirts. All of our shirts are recommended to be hand washed in cold\/warm water and hung dried as they were in the period. If machine washed we recommend gentle cycles. We cannot predict the effect that modern detergents, washing machines, or dryers may have on original buttons and dying methods. We recommend the first few washes of a colored shirt be done alone if no color transfer is required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cBoiled\u201d Pleated Front Shirts, banded
