While fancy bound, printed interior and specifically dated diaries were certainly in good supply, this is actually the most common type of diary or journal of the day; the plain paper hard or soft bound blank book suitable for any use, personal or business, travel\/field or at home, any date, etc. (They came in all sizes and volumes from the lightweight 50-60 pages like our lined and unlined marbleized memos to over 100 pages like this one. The larger volumes were designed\/intended typically to facilitate as many as 2-3 separate entries per page side – just like most of the printed versions. (In our experience with original examples, these plain paper bound editions, considered to be a quite practical item, were often utilized by multiple persons, and in use as long as a decade or more.
