A full volume plain paper diary in the handy full size pocket format measuring 4″ x 6″ and 7\/8″ thick. While fancy bound, printed interior and specifically dated diaries were certainly in good supply, this is actually the most common type of diary or journal of the day; the plain paper hard or soft bound blank book suitable for any use, personal or business, travel\/field or at home, any date, etc. (They came in all sizes and volumes from the lightweight 50-60 pages like our lined and unlined marbleized memos to over 100 pages like this one. The larger volumes were designed\/intended typically to facilitate as many as 2-3 separate entries per page side – just like most of the printed versions. The fancy ones simply survive more often, as they are not as universally applicable and less of a consumable – we have personally handled and inventoried over a dozen identified and dated plain paper soldier and homefront Civil War era diaries) Here is the full volume version for the soldier\/citizen desiring that format. Hard bound, as most full volume versions were, in a fine classically period, cross hatch finished black binding. (we have made higher end items with this binding finish for years and continuously looked for it at a more economically reasonable price and very excited to find it for you!) Contains 110 un-bleached ivory, square cut pages. (220 writing pages) Affixed to the front is the label, done on linen paper, for our signature stationer S.M. Ringwalt of Boiling Springs, Pa., a direct ancestor in the wartime trade and from my hometown. On the back is the period advert for his business and a partial list of some of his products. A common addition to such books during the period, inside is an 18 month advertising calendar for various pre-war and early war years from a local local merchant and also a label indicating the postage rates for domestic and foreign mailing. (In our experience with original examples, these plain paper bound editions, considered to be a quite practical item, were often utilized by multiple persons, and in use as long as a decade or more. Even page dated examples are often scratched out and the later correct year written in) NOTE: Stock photos may show different and varying interior labels than that which are placed in this run. A good addition to any impression.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Here is one of our very popular items over the years which we are happy to be again able to re-stock.
