Child’s Transferware China Tea Set
Child’s Transferware China Tea Set
Description
This is a high quality china tea set made in a period transferware pattern, available in either rose or blue. The dream of many a mid-19th century young lady, here is the wish come true for your special little girl. Set includes a tea pot with lid, a cream pitcher, a sugar bowl with lid, four saucers and four tea cups. Comes nestled in our hand made, period labeled papier mache box, in the color of the set, and complete with period marbleized paper lining. The label is from E. B. Mason of Boston, a prominent period distributor and supplier of crockery, china, glassware, etc. This will make a fantastic Christmas gift and cherished as a special childhood keepsake for many years to come. Transferware was first introduced in the mid 18th century in the area of Staffordshire England and quickly became popular across the world as a less expensive alternative for all classes, but particularly for those who simply could not afford the higher end forms of ceramics. Sometimes called “The Settler’s Porcelain” it was very popular in the colonies and subsequently was very popular throughout the 19th century. One could argue it has nearly never lost it’s popularity entirely in some markets ever since it’s advent, with collectors and consumers alike. We are excited to be able to offer a very limited quantity of these sets for this holiday season. Teapot is appr. 3-1/2″ tall, the teacups are appr. 1 -1/4″ tall, and the saucers are appr. 3″ across.
OUR LABELS ARE PROPRIETARY AND PROTECTED. ANY UNAUTHORIZED USE WILL BE VIGOROUSLY PURSUED.
