Unbleached light white cotton duck civilian pattern notched collared vest with simple natural muslin lining throughout. A sturdy vest which will hold up well, suitable for dress or work. Matching cloth covered tin back buttons and adjustment strap in back with either black enameled, or, nickeled metal  two prong buckle. Two front pockets. A nice vest with all button holes neatly handsewn. Can be marked for either a northern or southern documented wartime dealer in “Ready Made” clothing. (If not specified in your comments we will choose – no returns based on stamp if not indicated) In addition to being generally popular, the white vest was also noted in Army Regulations as a suitable alternative for officers worn with the uniform in certain circumstances. (Note :Unlike modern American sizes which are often larger than the actual measurement indicated, the measurement from side seam to side seam at the base of the arm hole is the actual chest measurement indicated. There is a taper inward at the high waist to about 2″ less, and then back out about 1″ at the bottom edge. The waist can be gathered by means of the back adjustment strap.
