Meticulously handmade with the same process as our Standard Grade and Special Edition Wallets by our own Mr. Marsh. First he manufactures the oil cloth himself utilizing period methods. This wallet is in a common wartime configuration seen in many references and features the popular mid 19c. coloring in red/maroon. (Mr. Marsh actually tints the oil cloth utilizing the same period ingredients that were used in the production of mid 19th c British redcoats) The interior is lined in muslin and features one inner pocket, and a currency/document section with two opposing inner flaps. This was a very common feature found in many original examples, rarely seen in reproductions. I have used a wallet with these simple flaps and it functions very well in keeping the bills secure, yet is very easily accessed. Also features the classic mid 19th c. detail of finely embossed lines on the outside edge, along the folds, and the classic “X” pattern across the flat – seen on many period examples, again missing from most reproductions. The inner flap is affixed with a label for period clothier and dealer in India Rubber and waterproofed goods, D.B. Camp of Savannah. Folded it measures appr 4″ x 6 3/4″. An SoFS exclusive.
