Description

Round disk with gold bullion border and single gold bar in center of field of Infantry blue. This insignia was authorized for Company Grade officers to place on the enlisted overcoat in lieu of the rather expensive purchase of the officers dark blue cloak coat. While not authorized it has been suggested by some research that it may have occasionally been put into use on the sleeve or collar of the sack coat to avoid the target of the shoulder strap along with the authorized use of the subdued borderless and smaller version of the shoulder insignia.
