White cotton drill civilian pattern notched collared vest with simple natural muslin lining throughout. A sturdy vest which will hold up well, suitable for dress or work. Two front pockets. A nice vest with all button holes neatly handsewn. In addition to being generally popular, the white vest was also noted in Army Regulations as a suitable alternative for officers worn with the uniform in certain circumstances. To that end we have equipped this run with small US eagle “I” buttons. The front of the vest lining is lightly quilted. Available labeled for documented southern, western federal or northeastern wartime and pre-war makers, but sorry we cannot change the buttons with a southern label, that will be up to you. NOTE :Unlike modern American sizes which are often larger than the actual measurement indicated, the measurement shown is from side seam to side seam at the base of the arm hole and is the actual chest measurement of the garment, not you! There is a taper inward at the high waist to about 2″ less, and then back out about 1″ at the bottom edge. The waist can be gathered by means of the back adjustment strap. Please, measure yourself with whatever garments you plan to wear under the vest, including braces trouser waistband with drawers, and shirt(s) to determine the correct vest to order.
