Checked Pleated Shirt w/Detachable Collar
Price range: $63.95 through $65.95
Description
Here is one of our newer shirt offerings based on period advertisement and photographic research, being a pleated front dress shirt made from a checked woven cotton material with a refined white and blue pattern. The shirt body including the pleats, cuffs, and banded collar are all of the same patterned shirt material. The removeable collar is also refined, or “boiled” white and can be marked for either a northern or southern maker. (please specify in comments or we will choose based on the shipping address if possible – no returns for collar marking when no preference is indicated) There is a button placed at the center of the back of the banded collar which corresponds to a buttonhole on the detachable collar. There are buttonholes on each end of the detachable collar which can be buttoned over the front collar button on the shirt. This simple attachment method was found on the more common version of such shirts, so they could be worn either with or without the dress collar without the necessity of a collar stud to close the shirt. Ten pleats and gusseted sleeves. Rounded bottom skirt with curved slits at side seams. As was common during the period, all machine-sewn seams with hand sewn buttonholes and genuine cut shell mother of pearl buttons. Collars were available during the period from throw away paper and cardstock, to soft materials and those with stiffeners added or inserted, including painted metal! This is yet another example of the efforts of period manufacturers to produce a shirt which has a bit of style and panache above the most common, yet versatile and practical for the common fellow. I like it! VERY LIMITED RUN.
