Notched Collar Vest, Rust/Butternut Jean Wool
Notched Collar Vest, Rust/Butternut Jean Wool
Price range: $67.95 through $69.95
Description
Rich rust/butternut brown jean wool civilian pattern notched collared vest with lightly quilted natural cotton lining throughout. (these coarse jean wool products are made specifically to represent the less refined production of the period and minor weaving anomalies, etc. should be expected. This particular color is also hand dyed using period methods and as a result may have some intended color variations. It is also more expensive to get this authentic result) Stamped for period dealer D.B. Camp of Savannah who advertised “Ready Made Clothing”. Also stamped with size mark. Sports our hand cut and drilled Gibson style wood buttons. In the past we have finished or oiled these buttons however, a recent correspondence from a historian suggested that they may have been originally placed raw and that the darkening was possibly due to use and exposure, or treatment after the fact. (easily applied with the aid of a period type slip style cardstock, wood, or brass button polishing guard.) We have chosen to let a few runs go through with untreated buttons applied for better diversity and variance in period representation, subject to customer response. Adjustment strap in back with sewn on nickeled brass two prong buckle. Two front pockets. A nice vest with all button holes neatly handsewn. (Note: Unlike modern American sizes which are often larger than the actual measurement indicated, the measurement from side seam to side seam at the base of the arm hole is the actual chest size given, there is a taper inward at the high waist about 3-4″ then back out) Although our clothing items have found widespread approval – uniforming and outer clothing is not our primary business and until recently we have restricted sale of such items to over the counter sales at events and at the shop, where the purchaser has the opportunity to try on the item before purchase. We take no orders for clothing to be made. PLEASE disregard modern sizing models when considering a purchase and instead utilize the actual garment measurements provided in the item description, against the actual measurements you wish the clothing item to fit over, prior to purchase. (please remember other garments you will be wearing this purchased garment over, in addition to body size) If you are unsure please email us with questions. Important Note: Our production of this popular particular color of jean wool material involves a hand dying process and, just as in the day, this does result in some degree of variation in shades from lot to lot. This means that two different clothing items of the same material in our inventory may not necessarily “match” perfectly, especially if they were made season over season. (In some cases, the difference can be obvious) If you are wanting clothing made from the exact same dye lot to make a matching suit of clothes, please inquire before purchase and also specify in notes with order. If trying to match a piece of clothing already purchased more than 6 months ago it is highly unlikely we will have perfectly matching inventory available. This variance was common in the day, even in contract uniform production. The common man did not care with such utility types of garments.
