Here is a well-recognized needle packet of the period, a nice alternative to our classic Milward’s Needle packet with the tall ship and 1857 date. Blood’s was a firm out of the needle rich manufacturing region of Redditch, England and well predated the war in production. His most well-known US imported production bears this label which boast of his “United States” wrapper patent issued in 1863.  A nice example for both the Northern market and the English blockade running South. The original maker was very protective of his packaging as were many during the period and each was signed with the admonishment that none were genuine if not thus marked. Here we have meticulously reproduced what we believe to be the earliest example of the label based on an original in our collection and utilizing Blood’s actual patent application and drawings.  The packet is our classic period thin blue paper and meticulously lock-folded exactly as the original, not a crude slip and tongue packet. The interior has Bloods folded paper insert bearing the crest, description and origin, with needles placed per originals. Includes both the large front and small back label in red with signature. A very smart and quintessentially period packet of needles for your kit. Just the ticket for the soldiers  housewife or homefront basket desiring the very best offered. Note: I am sorry but we must likewise, as with our Milward’s packets, limit purchases to two packets per order as we are again experiencing purchases of our consumable products in quantity and reports of them being resold, with our labels and packaging, at a premium by unscrupulous blanket type vendors, depriving our individual living history customers of the opportunities to buy our museum quality items at our reasonable prices. We are not a sutler supplier, we are the sutler. We do not work hard at our research and development on your behalf, while keeping costs as low as we reasonably can, in order to provide our products for those with diminished initiative to profit from – at your expense. These are labor intensive to produce and profit margins very limited.
