These Corps badges, as originals we have examined, are die cut from good quality wool felt and glue backed with period newsprint for body and to stop edge fraying whilst being sewn on. (Harpers Weekly in this case.)   Size and dimension researched and initially die cut by my longtime pard of some 40 yrs and fellow co-founder of the Army of the Pacific, Dom Dal Bello. They are then backed, packaged, stamped and labeled for a documented period maker by us, according to the Division and Corps they represent. (advertisements from this maker are also found in wartime Harpers Weekly) We are proud of this product representing, in the finest detail, the most common form of the commercially available Corps Badge of the period.

While Corps Badges of varying grades, materials, and features were available to all, this type of badge is most associated with the common enlisted man. Not all troops were able to get the issued item but their popularity was quite widespread owing to a cottage industry for production. From the wool felt example for the fellow of more humble means ranging to jewelry grade metals and the velvet bullion edged often purchased by both Officers and enlisted men. The regulation placement notwithstanding, with many wanting them affixed on items including hats, caps, coats, even canteen covers, the industry made a fair profit from the ranks to the staff and field.

We are sorry but we are not currently supplying any quantity purchases for organizations. We are a Sutler for the individual soldier/Living Historian. As a result, we must limit the purchaser to two badges per customer with our initial offering so that the maximum number of our customers may be able to secure a badge for their personal use.
