Description

A fine tooth double sided comb also know as a lice comb. Used by soldiers for cleaning and grooming. Well documented in many, many references. There are several documented makers of this comb during the period utilizing Goodyears 1851 patent. The most commonly found on original examples from the Civil War and pre-CW era is the India Rubber Comb Company which operated from 1856 to near the turn of the century. Just as the original examples, ours is marked “I.R. Comb Co. Goodyear 1851”. In addition, our comb comes wrapped in a copy of the original label, on the same color paper and folded precisely as the original. (a small quantity purchased years ago in the orginal box, wrapped individually inside, just as ours is presented to you)

I am sorry but we have had to now limit purchases to two pieces per order as we are again experiencing purchases of our consumable products in quantity and reports of them being resold, with our labels and packaging, at a premium by unscrupulous blanket type vendors, depriving our individual living history customers of the opportunities to buy our museum quality items at our reasonable prices. We are not a sutler supplier, we are the sutler. We do not work hard at our research and development on your behalf, while keeping costs as low as we reasonably can, in order to provide our products for the lazy to profit from at your expense.
