Here is a fine reproduction of a quite common child’s toy of the period. The pull top is one of the oldest documented mechanical toys in history known to have been produced commercially in quantity in Europe and Early American industry way before the Civil War era. Made of finished wood this top really hums for a while when you pull the string and release it on a flat surface. Great fun and wonderful example of the simple pastime for the enjoyment of all ages. I was amazed at how long it kept spinning! Very easy to rewind in the handle frame.
