Description

This is a rarely encountered version of this item as the case is cylindrical rather than the more commonly found oval cross section.  They are relatively rare in any form and after decades of keeping an eye out for them at reasonable prices we have still only handled maybe a dozen of any type. Documented to all theaters, many campsites and units, and several specific soldiers. These predominantly Catholic icons were carried in the pocket or among other personal items for comfort in devotions and also believed by some to provide protection in danger. (see our reference, CWSPI, CWCE, CWRW, CWA) Case is brass and the statue has a gold wash and also has a more slim and more round profile than many we have seen. The case has good dark age patina and character. The statue was well protected inside and is still bright. Seen many of the standard form over the years priced significantly higher than even our regular price.
