Coverlet – Light Blue Woven Cotton

Coverlet – Light Blue Woven Cotton
$64.95
Description
100% woven cotton coverlet, documented as carried by soldiers for a lightweight blanket roll. Brought from home or foraged in the field, these bed covers, also seen in wool and blended fabrics, popular during the period, were found in bedrooms, lounges, couches, chairs, in coaches and sleds, anywhere cover was desired by the individual. A high quality cotton weave of good period design and perfect for the soldier wanting a bit of the comfort of home, or to lighten his load during spring or fall campaign. Extremely comfortable and the weave is both cool in the more moderate temperatures and yet provides good warmth when it turns a bit nippy. Measures 50″ x 70″. Light blue and off-white with off-white fringe on ends. (we also have dated examples wartime and pre-war with fringe – easily cut off if you like)Contrary to some online chat, we have in our personal collection several period coverlets that appear to be all but 100% cotton, in a nearly identical patterns, and have a prewar dated example with this lighter blue color. A fine alternative to the issue blanket. Indicated by the maker as machine washable, gentle suggested. NOTE: This item was made by an old line mill in business since 1857 and represents the last of their 19th century historic pattern line of woven covers. They have ceased production of the item and will no longer make them at all, opting to modernize their line of goods based on market demands. We were able to secure a small number from the very end of the inventory they had left in the warehouse. The last MSRP was over $100. Get one while you still can and at a great discounted price.
