Description
Excellent serviceable condition on this little tooth powder bottle. Great for display or use after a proper cleaning. Charles Hood was a chemist in the pre war period, beginning at the age of 14 working for other firms and then struck out on his own. He developed a list of remedies and products including his popular tooth powder and became well known in the 1870s and beyond as a producer of patent medicines, etc. The embossed bottle is made in a period method, formed in a hinge mold, used from pre-war era up toward the turn of the century. Although it could be a post war production bottle, it is a good example for display or use from a chemist documented to the period. Our limited research did not find any documentation of a Hood’s bottle previous to this and it is made in the same style as tooth powder bottles in our collection with known wartime provenance.
