Dark military blue wool civilian pattern notched collared vest with lightly quilted black cotton lining and black cotton back. Although a civilian pattern and common color for the period for all, federal officers often purchased this vest in the dark military blue in lieu of the military pattern vest, and used either the cloth covered buttons or replaced them with the appropriate military brass. Available labeled for documented southern, western federal or northeastern wartime and pre-war makers. (please specify in comments with order as to which label is preferred or we will mark garment based upon customer’s shipping address) Matching dark blue cloth covered buttons and adjustment strap in back with sewn in standard two prong black enameled buckle. Two front pockets. A nice vest with all button holes neatly handsewn. (Note: Unlike modern American sizes which are often larger than the actual measurement indicated, the measurement from side seam to side seam at the base of the arm hole is the actual chest size indicated with about 3-4 inch taper at the high waist, then back out) Although our clothing items have found widespread approval – uniforming and outer clothing is not our primary business and until recently we have restricted sale of such items to over the counter sales at events and at the shop, where the purchaser has the opportunity to try on the item before purchase.
