Description

This is the popular and well-documented oval Parker tobacco tin patented and marked “Jan 24, 1860” with a star and “No. 2”. (I believe No. 2 was the higher-grade case with the raised design) This is the version with the attractive starburst motif on the hinged lid and base. In good serviceable condition with some rust which could be cleaned depending on intended use. Pictures are part of the description. Carried by soldiers and civilians alike and found amongst many veteran’s personal effects. This one has a name faintly scratched in the front side over the patent date area. May be discernable with some diligence and a magnifier, then checked for military status. We will leave it to you – priced as unidentified. Getting very difficult to find in any form or priced and seen tagged at 50-100% higher.

Great collectible and important CW era personal item to complete display.
