Description

A rare but documented example of the Civil War era tinsmiths craft. Used in various inside venues, offices, etc. These are also documented as in use in hospital and a great addition to any medical display. From a time when such tobacco use was much more widely accepted and every respected public establishment was expected to have such facility. Those not providing such communal receptacles were considered by the some classes to be offering the invitation to expectorate in a much less civil manner. Here was the more sanitary solution for the gentleman soldier. 4 1/2″ wide and 3″ tall CW cup with separate funnel insert. Flat bottom, rolled lip, all typical 1860s construction. (DCA Cat #131 over ten years ago, $225.00)
