Saber Belt

Saber Belt

$15.00

Description

Here is an admittedly somewhat crazy piece. However, with a little bit of minor leather stitching work it is transformed into a useable item. With a few improvements it could be transformed into above mainstream example.

The basic pattern mainstream belt was put together upside down and sent to us with a couple of others. Possibly by the same fellow who was trying to copy our NCO belts. As you can see with the buckle assembly right side up and on the correct side, the saber suspension strap assemblies are sewn and riveted on facing up and the shoulder strap assembly faces down. The buckle is mainstream quality at best with a thick clunky silver wreath poorly placed and the snap hooks are modern bag hooks. Very lightly embossed edges on the belt and straps and has hollow core rivets. By removing the suspension assemblies and re-attaching them correctly one has a functional mainstream belt. (The basic hardware is decent quality brass.) Better emboss the edges of the belt and straps/guide loops and replace the rivets with the correct solid brass type, put decent brass snaphooks on the straps, replace the buckle with the one of your choice and voila!, you have a better than mainstream quality belt. (snap hooks are readily available in a good selection of patterns)
