Back by popular demand in a very limited run. Meticulously handmade with the same process as all of our oil cloth wallets by our own Mr. Marsh. First he manufactures the oil cloth himself utilizing period methods. This wallet is in a popular pre-war and wartime configuration seen in many references and features the popular mid 19c. exterior color in a muted red. The interior flaps are done in a rich dark blue and the interior is lined in natural white muslin creating a great array of the national colors. The wallet features one inner pocket which is billowed in the accordion style and has two separate sections. (this a feature seen on may high grade period wallets but is VERY difficult to make correctly and adds hours on the process of handmaking these wallets – virtually unheard of in reproduction) This pocket features an inner flap for added security. In the center section it has the two opposing flaps to secure currency and documents also seen on many original examples but rarely reproduced. I have used a wallet with these simple flaps and it functions very well in keeping the bills secure, yet is very easily accessed. The inner flaps are each embossed with an period eagle and shield, a feature we have observed on several original examples. Also features the classic mid 19th c. detail of finely embossed lines on the outside edge, along the folds, and the classic “X” pattern across the flat – seen on many period examples, again missing from most reproductions. Folded it measures appr 4″ x 6 3/4″. An SoFS exclusive. A gorgeous looking wallet in oil cloth with fantastic period style and craftsmanship unequalled in the marketplace. A museum quality piece – poorly copied by a few, NEVER duplicated!
