Tin Camp Mirror
Tin Camp Mirror
$21.95
Description
Made of tin, this mirror is patterned from a handful of different styles we have handled over the years. Seen in many references and documented as sold by Sutlers to many a discriminating soldier. Typically made in France for U.S. wartime import, but I have inventoried original examples dated as early as 1844. They came in designs from quite plain to rather ornately adorned, this one is a happy medium. Measures 3″ across. Has the simple standard hanging ring on the back of the cover seen on most of the more common models. Cover is nicely embossed with a Federal eagle and has a beaded edge, front and back. Inside has red cardstock as seen on most orginals we have handled with facsimile Paris label dated 1861.
