Common working man’s coat of the period. Virtually the same pattern as a well documented private purchase officers sack coat, the form for which was basically copied from this civilian coat. Notched civilian pattern lapel collar on this rich buff wool sack coat with one exterior breast pocket and two lower exterior pockets. Sports our high quality coin pattern domed brass buttons on four button front and three button cuff. (identical to an original in our collection) All button holes are hand sewn. Interior is lined in black cotton and has one inseam breast pocket. Sleeves are also lined in black cotton. Cuffs are fully functional. Available labeled for documented southern, western federal or northeastern wartime and pre-war makers. (please indicate which label preferred in note/comment with order or we will decide based on shipping address – no returns based on labeling with undeclared preference) PLEASE NOTE: Due to supply issues we have had difficulty inventorying some materials in some colors. This run of our buff wool sack coats sizes 40, 42, and 48, are made with a different material lot than past runs so they will not match exactly. The size 44, 46 and 50 currently in stock are from the original material lot. (We are told that the previous material will again be available soon) Weight and quality and color are all basically  the same, but this lot has some varied color thread weave to achieve the overall buff color as opposed to all one solid dye. Still perfectly period authentic, the finish result is just a bit different than previous productions. SIZING NOTE: These coats are not sized according to modern standardized models which include “vanity inches” in the process. The actual measurement of the chest of these coats at the armpit is only 1 to 1-1/2″ greater than the chest size. This coat has straight side seams with no fitted waist taper – it is a true “sack” coat. The sack coat was generally designed to fit more loosely than the common coat, thus the straight side seam, but many period photos do show them being worn quite tightly. Although our clothing items have found widespread approval – uniforming and outer clothing is not our primary business and until now we have restricted sale of such items to over the counter sales at events and at the shop, where the purchaser has the opportunity to try on the item before purchase. PLEASE disregard modern sizing models when considering a purchase and instead utilize the actual garment measurements provided in the item description, against the actual measurements of your torso with the clothing on you wish the coat to fit over, prior to purchase.
